Food Microbiology Proficiency Test – Qualitatitve Swab – APC on Surface Part # FMPT-029

Product used by food testing labs as a Proficiency Test (PT) to verify the performance of swab testing for Aerobic Plate PT Count (APC). The test samples are provided as a set of 5 sterile disposable “surfaces” and 5 individually labeled inoculum-containing Snap Stick™ culture swabs. All numbered culture swabs will contain lyophilized pellets. Two of the numbered culture swabs contain lyophilized microorganisms. Three culture swabs contain lyophilized “blank” pellets that are considered sterile. The PT test participant must report the presence or absence of microorganisms for each of the five samples. PT instructions are provided and are available online. Results will be reported online using our PT Datalink. This proficiency test will be available during the quarterly Food Microbiology PT Studies. The product is perishable and will be shipped express with non-toxic frozen packs in a cooler. The product requires cold storage upon receipt. This PT is suitable for all FDA Bam, AOAC, and USDA MLG cultural plate methods for APC, including the use of 3M™ Petrifilm.
