Product Description
PT samples are provided as a set of 5 numbered vials containing lyophilized pellets of live cultures. Two of the pellet vials will contain a single species of psychrotrophic bacteria at a concentration of more than 1,000 CFU/pellet. The other three samples will contain a single species of non-psychrotrophic bacteria like Enterococcus faecalis derived from NCTC 775. None of the five numbered pellet samples will be sterile. One bottle of 99mL sterile hydration fluid is provided. Sterile hydration fluid can be any of the following: butterfield’s, phosphate, peptone buffer, or deionized water. PT instructions are provided and are available online. Results will be reported online using our PT Datalink. This proficiency test will be available during the quarterly Food Microbiology PT Studies. The product is perishable and will be shipped express with non-toxic frozen packs in a cooler. The product requires cold storage upon receipt.
